September 22, 2016

In Religion we learned about Jacob and how he lied to get his father's blessing.  We learned that Jacob repented and God forgave him and still loved him and took care of him.
 God turned his heart around.
Repent means to turn around.  We too have a heart full of sin, yet God loves us, forgives us, and takes care of us.  We can turn our hearts around by repenting our sins.  God is faithful and just and He will forgive our sins and fill our hearts with Jesus.

This week Chapel was about a pencil.  We talked about how we can mark people both in good and bad ways.  This week we also learned about Joseph and how many bad things happened to him, but God made all things work together for good.  Our class has been trying this week to mark people in a good way with Jesus love.  It makes me smile to see them sharing Jesus and being so happy to serve others.

A Sneak Peek and our Week:

We were curious about the roofers.  We have been praying for their safety.
We made poster for them.

We told them "thank you"...

"We are praying for you"...

"stay safe and cool and Jesus loves you!"

We carried out the Gatorades and...

shared our signs.

Happy Fall?  Even though the weather is hot we enjoy recess with our friends.

We observed "our" tree and we looked at the leaves and compared them to other leaves  on the internet.  Our tree is a maple tree.

Our seed experiment continues.  First we used cotton balls and a baggie and put the little greenhouses in the sun, they got moldy.  Then we used paper towels and baggies and put them in the sun and they go moldy.  We talked about how sometimes scientist need to redo experiments many times before they work.  So we talked about what we could change to make the seeds grow and not mold.  The class decided to use soil and a cup.  We will see if the seeds grow!

 We dissected seeds.

Writing about our books
We are waiting for our class pet to finish its life cycle as a monarch butterfly.
Mrs. Helmkamp came in to teach us about using an iPad to take pictures.  We learned how to take 'good' pictures, asking permission, by getting close, zooming in, by changing the perspective, by focusing, and by making sure the lighting is correct.  Check the end of the blog to view our pictures of Flat Fred Bird around the school.

We studied Paul Klee and used shapes like he did to build castles.
