Here is the recipe for the cookies we will be making, this is an easy recipe that makes good cookies!

First Grade Christmas Cookies

INGREDIENTS

1 Box of White Cake Mix

1/3 Cup Oil

2 Eggs

Sprinkles

1/2 Cup mini chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS

1 Preheat oven at 350º F.

2 Instead of following the instruction on the cake mix

box combine the dry cake mix powder, 1/3 cup oil

and 2 eggs together.

3 Stir with a SPOON until it’s thoroughly moist.

4 Add the chocolate chips to the cake batter and mix

together.

5 Shape dough into 1″ balls. Place them about 2″

apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

6 With the bottom of a glass dipped in flour, flatten to

approximately 1/4″ thick.

7 Add sprinkles to the top of each cookie.

8 Bake them at 350º F for 7 to 8 minutes. Do not

overcook them, they will get harder as they dry.

9 Enjoy!

We started the week off by lighting the PINK advent candle.

Mr. Monkey went home.

He sent us books while we wait for his friends.

This week we learned that the angel told that baby should be named JESUS, which means "GOD SAVES".

The prophets foretold that Jesus name would be EMMANUEL, which means, "GOD IS WITH US"

Make time this weekend to worship and prepare your heart for the Baby who came to earth to be WITH US and to SAVE US!

ADVENT SERVICE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 10:00 and 7:00

For the morning service your child should just wear the school uniform, no 'fancy' clothes please.

For the evening service please have your child in the church basement at between 6:50. Please keep your child's coat. Please do not drop your child off in the church basement before 6:50. Please DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED IN THE CHURCH OR CHURCH BASEMENT!!

For the evening service your child may wear a Christmas outfit, other Church clothes, or school uniform. Please no jeans or 3D huge headbands. After the service your child will be waiting for you in the Welcome Center. Feel free to take pictures after the service in the church. PLEASE remember to be respectful of God's house and keep kids from running around in the church.

We have been working hard on this service. We each have our individual part and our songs ready. We are excited to share the message of Jesus birth.

CLASS CHRISTMAS PARTY:

For the Christmas party we will have pizza, fruit, and a drink.

For the hundredth day of school I will need 100 cereal boxes. Please save your boxes and send them in to school.

You are invited to join us for the 1st Grade Milestone Classes!

Zion Lutheran Church believes God calls parents to be the primary spiritual leaders for their children. Milestone Classes focus on creating and celebrating healthy spiritual habits and equip parents and families to teach their children.

Classes meet on Saturday at 4:15pm or Sunday at 9:30am in the School Library. Pick the class time that works best for you and your family!

1st Grade - Family Devotions

Join us on January 5th OR 6th as we learn a fun way to do family devotions at home!

I hope you enjoyed the nativity your child made. I also hope that is will be a good way to tell the Christmas GOOD NEWS while playing with and display the nativity.

A BIG thank you of army Dad, Paul Trinklein, for cutting all 162 pieces, to my husband for spraying them black, and I am please to say that I have all the skin on my fingers after sanding them!

I really enjoy preparing for Christmas with the kids, this second week of Advent. I look forward to next week and the JOY it will bring!

Thank you for your prayers for Hannah and her surgery. She is home and recovering. The surgeon had to tighten her shoulder joint (not sure what that means) he says it was successful. Now six weeks in a big brace and therapy!
