December 7, 2018

Hark the glad sound
The Savior comes
The Savior promised long
Let every heart prepare a throne
And every voice a song!

I hope you carve some time out of the hustle and bustle of this season to have special Advent devotions with your family.   Help prepare your hearts for Jesus this Advent.

ADVENT SERVICE: We will lead worship WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 19 at 10 and 7.   We will begin practicing in the church for our service soon.  PLEASE  practice your child's individual part focusing in on loud and slow!

For the  morning service  the class should wear their uniforms and for the evening wear church clothes or uniform, no jeans please.

Please have your child to the church basement on Wednesday night at 6:50.

Christmas Party/Service Project

For our Christmas party on December 21 we will be baking cookies to give to others.  Thank you to the parents who have already emailed me to help.  Mrs. Fahey will be my lead parent and Mrs. Helm will get out pizza. Mr. Tim Bethel has volunteered.  Mrs. Hopfer, Mrs. Owens, Mrs. Coad, and Mr./Mrs. Theobald had signed up before school.  If you are still able to help please let me know.  I still need a few more helpers.
I will send out an email to let you know details next week.  Plan on being at school from 9-11. If you can help and haven't let me know please email me and I will include you on the helper email.

Thanks for the added helping hands!

For the hundredth day of school I will need 100 cereal boxes.  Please save your boxes and send them in to school.

A very big Thank You and Goodbye to Mrs. Duffy.  She has done a wonderful job   teaching.  She will be a very good teacher and her students will be blessed to have her as their teacher.  Today we said "Thank You and Goodbye" with a party.  We had cookies and hot chocolate. We gave her the book we made and a basket full of gifts, including the gift certificate from the class.
May the HOPE of Jesus fill your hearts,
Amy Bernhardt

We are learning that Advent is a time to wait, prepare, rejoice and tell others about Jesus birth to be our Savior and that Jesus is coming again to take us to heaven.
We begin each day by lighting the Advent candle on the Advent Wreath, we have a special devotion that has an ornament that we put on the Devotion Christmas tree and we take turns extinguishing the candles on the Advent wreath.

Did you  hear about Mr. Monkey?
He has come to learn about the true meaning of Christmas.
He gives us challenges as he learns about Sharing Jesus love.

Each morning we journal about Mr. Monkey.
We write and draw about Mr. Monkey's Adventures. Our room is special for Christmas.

We have special centers to help us focus on Jesus this Advent,

We learned about St. Nicholas a pastor who shared Jesus' love with others by throwing gold coins into windows.  The coins landed in the children's shoes.

After reading the story we took off our shoes.

We took our shoes outside and waited...

Our shoes were filled with an orange, gold coins, and a Christmas book.

Christmas shapes
Guess the Number game
We are learning about animals groups and making an animal group book.
We are making our own nativity scene.
More math games
Spelling games
word work

STEAM CHALLENGE
build a 3D Christmas tree that  will support a star

We learned about different tints of blue and how to go from light blue to dark blue.  We then added a Nativity Silhouette.
