This week was full of activities and sharing Jesus love!
I am overwhelmed with the generosity of the first grade families with donating money for the 5 Napalese refugee families. We were able to purchase 15 gifts for the kids, put together baskets full of toiletry items for the families, and give them a $100 gift card to Walmart to purchase food needs. Over $430 was brought in and spent on these 5 families. We had a wonderful field trip to Walmart. Thank you to the chaperones!! I am say happy to see my students so enthusiastic about sharing Jesus love.
Look for pictures at the end of the blog!
We celebrated with Miss Bolt at her wedding shower. We played fun games, ate cookies, and drank hot chocolate.
Miss Bolt was very grateful for the gift and smiled at the fun games. Look for pictures at the end of the blog.
St. Nick made an early stop to our classroom and delivered us traditional gifts, an orange, a coin, and a pencil (a version of a switch because we are all a little naughty :) ) Look for pictures at the end of the blog!
In Case of SNOW: If there is snow and your child wants to go in the snow at school during recess. I ask that they bring a pair of boot that are to be only worn outside and a pair of shoes to wear in the classroom. I also ask that your bring the boots in a plastic bag, so that when we come in the boots can go back into the bag and reduce wet in the hallways.
Thank you!!
We welcome Sara Rudloff to our class. She has been a wonderful addition. The class has been so welcoming and I am glad she is in our class.
Please note we now have 22 students!
Take time to look at the pictures of Kris our class' Christmas Monkey, our week's activities, and St. Nick's Day excitement!

We celebrate Advent each day with a special devotion and ornament for our Advent Tree. I hope you have seen the ornaments and your child's Advent Tree. |
| We take turns extinguishing the Advent candles. |
We have lots of nativities to play with in the morning.

We have a Christmas puzzle, too.
Here is a really small nativity.
We are building our own nativity set.
| We have a special visitor for Christmas! |
| We voted for a name and Kris won! |
At first Kris was naughty and stole a number off of the calendar.
We needed to tell him about Jesus and the reason for Christmas. |
We think he is learning about sharing Jesus' love.
Kris put money in the box for the refugees and made a friend. |
| Kris and his friend read a book about Jesus' birth. |
Kris made new friends and played a nice game of Uno.
We wonder what Kris will do next week? |
| Elves from Lutheran High School told us about St. Nick coming . |
WE SHARED JESUS' LOVE WHILE SHOPPING FOR THE REFUGEE FAMILIES.
WE CHOOSE OUR GIFTS CAREFULLY AND THOUGHTFULLY.
| We scanned our items with care. |
| We spread Jesus love everywhere! |
| The fifth and sixth grades led Advent chapel. |
| They told us to PREPARE for Jesus. |
They showed us ways to help us prepare... Advent wreaths, Christmas trees, Family devotions, and sharing Jesus with those who don't know. |
We sang at the Ladies Aid Christmas Luncheon. Again, sharing the love of Jesus with song. |
| We learned that St. Nicholas was a real man, a pastor, who helped the poor by dropping gold coins in the windows of people in need. Legend has it that the coins landed in the peoples shoes. |
| We celebrated St. Nicholas' Day and put our shoes outside. |
At the end of the day we found that St. Nick had come and filled our shoes with goodies.
| A gold coin, an orange, and a pencil. |
| We enjoyed eating the treats while watching a movie about Christmas. |
WE ALSO DID A LOT OF LEARNING THIS WEEK!!
| Acting out verbs...running... |
| ...and hopping. |
| We build words with consonant clusters and chunks. |
| We wrote out Christmas lists. |
| We searched for long a and short a words. |
| We learned about symmetry, by making symmetrees. |
| We even made a symmetry heart for the stem. |
| We spent a lot of time learning about silent e, watch out he is sneaky. |
| We even made a sneaky e and he changed vowels from short to long. |
| Sometimes we read independently and then answer questions about what we have read. |
| We did a Math experiment where we estimated how many cubes would fit in a container and then we found the actual number. |
Have you seen our Action Verb Heros?
This week's assignment was to make a Christmas Poster. |
Notice we have learned how to change the background and font.
