December 12, 2014

Rejoice, Rejoice, Immanuel
Shall come to you oh Israel

As we enter the third week in Advent we remember the JOY that Jesus brings to us both at Christmas and all year.  We have complete JOY knowing that Jesus came to free us from the slavery of sin, death, and the devil.  We have complete JOY knowing that we are given the gift of new life.
Rejoice, Rejoice, Immanuel
Shall come to you oh Israel

For the hundredth day of school I will need 100 cereal boxes.  Please save your boxes and send them in to school.

Many students have been sick this week.  If your child is sick please remember to keep them home 24 hours after they are fever free.

ADVENTURES IN CHRISTMAS
               with Kris our class monkey
Kris reminded us to light  2 candles on the Advent wreath.
We lit 2 candles.
We continue to add ornaments to our Advent Tree.
He helped find the date card on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Kris made his own Advent tree.
On Thursday Kris had a note that said, "Surprise!"
He had hidden candy canes in our math boxes.
We were very surprised to find them.
On Friday we found Kris playing with a nativity scene.
In gym we are doing a dance unit.
We learned a dance called, Sasha Sasha, 1 2 3.
This is the Mexican Hat dance.
Can you guess which dance this is?
If you said the Chicken Dance you were right.
One more of that wedding reception favorite :)
We are working on our very own nativity scenes.
Thank you to Mr. Bernhardt who cut out over 200 pieces for us.
We sanded the wood.
 We painted the wood.
We colored and cut out the people.
We glued the people on the wood.
We used Mod Podge to help them stick.
We learned that the prophet Isaiah foretold Jesus birth.
We drew angels who proclaimed Jesus birth.
We painted the background of the angels gold because they shone in the sky.
We colored wrapping paper.
We are reading one of my favorite books.
The third and fourth graders shared with us an ADVENT message.
We made candy cane ornaments.
We used "candy" to learn place value.
We wrote a descriptive writing about a Christmas decoration.
We sequenced how to bake gingerbread men.
We searched for long a and short a words.

We continue to make Christmas digital posters.  Here are a few from this week.
