March 6, Friday: Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day
Hello! This year for Grandparents & Special Friends Day, we are so excited to announce that we will be selling shirts guests may wear that day, or to show Zion spirit at ANY time! This is not required to order, but encouraged if your guests want some fun, customized Zion merchandise! You can also order these for guests who are not able to make it, but still want to show some Bobcat pride!
Order costs will be billed through Joyful Response. Please select the size of the shirts you would like to order. Shirts will be delivered to your child's homeroom prior to Grandparents and Special Friends Day. Shirt orders are due Friday, February 13.
The price will be $13 per shirt.
If you need more than 5 shirts, you will need to complete the form a second time. Thank you for your understanding.
Check your child's practice sums to 10 test in the Friday Folder. Remember we have completed the 30 lessons and 10 review lessons and next Friday sums to 10 tests will be recorded for a grade.
If you would like extra practice pages feel free to visit the website FACTS on FIRE
As we continue in the year we begin to focus on fluency in reading. At home you can help by having your child read the ROLL and READS and the STORY pages that come home. I have an incentive that if a parent signs the paper that indicates that the paper was read aloud, the student receives a bonus sticker. I don't always remember to put a parent signature stamp.

Next week is a fun week to celebrate what makes Zion special and unique. Yes, we are strong in academics. Our schools scores consistently above the 75% on standardized testing and when our students go to Lutheran High (one of the most academic high schools in the St. Louis county with the highest average ACT scores in the county) the teachers at LHS comment on how well prepared Zion students are for upper level classes. Yes, Zion has awesome music programs and sport programs as well. Yes, Zion has teachers who are love Jesus and their students. Yes, Zion teachers are dedicated and continue to passionate about learning. Yes, Zion is a school family. But is JESUS that makes Zion special.
Here are somethings we do everyday
that you may not even know we do ...
We have a devotion leader who now at this point in the year says the invocation, leads the doxology, and extinguishes the candle after devotions...
...each day we take prayer requests and take time to individual pray...
...we have a prayer leader who says his/her own prayer
aloud before lunch...
...and each month we learn a new lunch prayer to
sing after the prayer leader prays...
...each day we close the day by sing a benediction blessing to each other as we leave school.
These are just a few ways your child is learning to be a
disciple of Christ!
My prayer is that your family thanks God for the gift of Zion, a Christian education, and the blessing of your child being surrounded by Jesus love and disciples who are passionate to teach him/her to be a disciple and witness of Christ.
