THANKSGIVING DEVOTION:

This week our class will be working on a child led Thanksgiving devotion for his/her family.  The devotion will come home on Thursday.  The devotion will be in a large manilla envelope. I hope you encourage your child and give them the opportunity to lead the devotion.  What a great step in the children's faith development to lead a devotion and share the Bible with you
Advent begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Advent is a time that we prepare for the birth of Jesus our Savior.
At school we will have an advent wreath to help us count down the weeks till Christmas.

You child will be making a special Advent Candle devotion center for your family this Wednesday in scholastic.

Mrs. Kuhlmann and I have purchased special devotions for you to do at home as well.   Look for both in your child's book bag on Wednesday.  We want you to have it ready to go on the first Sunday of Advent, December 1.

MATH FACTS- SUMS TO 10
We have about a month left for addition facts to 10.  Proficient is 30 facts in 1 minute.  We practice 2 minutes of facts each day and on Fridays we do a 1 minute assessment.   After Christmas we will switch to subtraction facts.  If you notice your child has less than 25 facts in the 1 minute assessment on Fridays (a NP or N) PLEASE practice with them.  Using flashcards can be helpful to practice.  It is easy to find flashcards on the internet, just search addition facts sums to 10.  Thanks for your help!

We learned about Veteran's Day and celebrated the day by thanking veterans at our special chapel service on Thursday.
Chaplin Lieutenant Colonel Steven Hokana talked to us about the centurion who came to Jesus and gave us Christian dog tags. He challenged us to take care of others and stand out for Jesus!
