October 31, 2024

We learned about Martin Luther and the Reformation.

We are thankful that Martin Luther was bold to tell the truths about God and His love for us in Jesus.

Martin used art to share the message of Jesus.

May we be BOLD like Martin Luther and tell others about God's everlasting, enduring, great love for us!

This weekend in church we celebrate  All Saint's Day, a day we remember saints of the church.  We learned the Saints are special people to God and His church.  Saints are FORGIVEN sinners whom God has CHOSEN to do HIS WORK in the world.  We are God's Saints FORGIVEN, CHOSEN, and WORKING for Him.

Zion will be hosting a Veteran's day Chapel service on Thursday, November 14 beginning at 8:15 a.m.  Any Veterans are welcome to attend this service, please invite the special Veterans in your lives.

1st/2nd Grade Advent Service
-Our Advent services will be Wednesday, December 18 in the Zion Sanctuary.
-The students will be leading the Advent chapel during school at 10 am and they will need to wear their normal standardized dress.
-Students will also be leading the church service at the 7 p.m. service that evening.  Please have your child arrive at 6:45 p.m. in the church basement. Teachers will not be in the church basement until this time, so please stay with your child until a teacher arrives. Students will need to be wearing standardized dress or church clothes.   Please keep your child's coat and belongings with you because after the service you will be meeting your child in the narthex/welcome center area near the sanctuary.
-Your child will need to be in attendance at both services; parents and family are welcome to come to either service.

It is going to get COLD one of these day so I want you to know that I use this rule to help us with coats... in the 30s you must wear a coat, in the 40s teacher's choice, in the 50s student's choice.

We do go outside unless the temperature or the real feel is below 10 degrees. Please make sure your child has appropriate winter wear. If there is every snow on the ground students may bring a separate pair of snow boots to change into so they may go in the snow. Only children with a different pair of boots for the snow will be able to go in the snow. Please send the boots in a plastic bag so that after recess the boots can go into the bag and the hall can stay dry. Please do not send snow pants to school, we don't have time to put the snow pants on and off. Thank you

If your child has chapped lips please send chapstick for them to keep in their book bag to put on before and after recess.

Art Portfolios went home on Thursday.  Please take out the great art.

It is yours to keep!

Please send the portfolio back on Monday.

Thanks for helping your child dress up on Red Ribbon week.

We won the dress up contest for K-4th grade!

SHHH... It is a surprise the kids don't know

but we won a POPCORN party!

Enjoy the pictures from this week!

MRS. JENNINGS WANTED ME TO SHARE THIS...

Dear Parents,

I am really excited about the Sport Stacking unit we are beginning next week in PE.  Sport Stacking is an exciting sport where students stack and unstack 12-specially designed cups (Speed Stacks).  Sport Stacking uses both sides of the body and brain, developing important athletic and academic skills.

One of my goals, as a Physical Educator, is to promote activity at home through positive alternatives to computer, television and video game screen time.  I believe that Sport Stacking is a unique, fun and simple activity that motivates kids to get up and move.

I have Speed Stacks Sets and StackMats for you to purchase here at the school if you would like, with an added benefit of raising funds for our PE program. Here’s some reasons to participate:

  • Sport Stacking is healthy for kids and gets them off screens!

  • Speed Stack Sets make great Christmas gifts. Let me know if you want me to keep it a secret!

  • Winner of a Family Choice Award! The "Family Choice Awards" recognize the best in children's and parenting products.

  • Speed Stacks Sets and StackMats are available for immediate purchase. ‘First come, First served’ on color and design choices.

If you would like to  purchase a Speed Stacks Set and/or StackMat, go to this link. Card payment via the website is preferred.  https://www.speedstacks.com/go/37067-18046764/

After you place the order, print out the receipt and have your student bring the receipt to me (or drop it off to the office if it’s a gift you don’t want your student to know about). Then I will get you your items or give the items to the student based on your preference.  Please have a second choice in mind since it is ‘First come, First served’ on color and design choices.

Sincerely,

Sarah Jennings
