FLUENCY READING BOOKS:  On Tuesday your child brought home a book that your child should be able to read it with minimal help.  Please have your child read these books, they should even read them a couple nights/times.  The first time is still decoding and then the next times should be fluent.  Remember fluency isn't just rate but also inflection.   Reading more than once can also build self confidence.  Please send the books back on the following Tuesday. Each week your child will receive a new book.  If books are not returned or lost there is a $1 fee to replace the book.

Reading is so important in First Grade.  The best way to become a good reader is to READ, READ, READ!  Thank you for helping your child become a good reader.

I have begun assess each child on the high frequency words.  After we have spent a few weeks learning the words I ask each child to read them to me.  I expect the word to be read quickly, showing me the child "KNOWS" the word.  I have included a paper with the words your child needs to practice highlighted. I have included some information and activities to help with learning the high frequency words. Both papers can be found in the Friday Folder.  If you child doesn't have a paper that means he/she KNEW all the words.  Every few weeks I will reassess and send home new words to practice.

I am so thankful that we have a God who is a promise KEEPER!  May you make time to worship Him this weekend, I again included a children's bulletin for you in the Friday Folder.
