Sign us with ashes, merciful God,

children of dust, as to dust we return.

Sign us with ashes, merciful God,

mark us and make us your own."

God has marked us at our baptisms.  He makes us His and promises to never let go.  As we journey through Lent let us focus on the price that was paid for us.  To claim us God sacrificed His only Son.  Praise be to God for His everlasting love for us.

Our Classroom Lent Worship Center

I hope your family will use the Lent worship center.  May this be a reminder to spend time as a family around God’s Word and in prayer.  After Lent you may take the candles out (Save them for next year) and hang the cross up with the plain side out.  Then it is a year long reminder of our SAVIOR!!  Thank you to Mr. Bernhardt, for cutting out the cross pieces for us to put together!

A Look Ahead:
Memory: John 20:31
Religion: Jesus Raises Lazarus
Phonics: long vowels
Spelling: Lesson 23
Grammar: adjectives
Science: clouds and seasons
Math: adding 10, ordering and comparing numbers to 100
Art: sewing

THANK YOU students and families! Thanks to your extreme generosity we have once again collected a record setting amount of money for the American Heart Association. So far we have raised over $19,200.00 and the money is still coming in. This is incredible for a school of our size! Our Heart Ambassador, William LaCroix, lead the way by raising $1750.00. Other donations ranged from $5.00 to $805.00. An incredible Ninety-one percent of our students took part in obtaining donations. Amazing!

Our students worked hard at our Kid’s Heart Challenge events as they ran through the obstacle course, jumped over short ropes, jumped over long ropes, and kept pace with the helicopter rope. We had just enough awesome volunteers to help our events run smoothly.

Please let me know if your child has not received a “Heart Hero” that they have earned. The other “Thank you” gifts should arrive by late March.

THANK YOU ZION FAMILIES! YOU ARE BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING!

In Christ,
Mrs. Steinbacher

Third Quarter ends this Friday and report cards will be send home next Friday.
I will be setting up a google doc to sign up for a parent conference after Spring Break.  I will let you know if I want to meet with you.  I will send out the link to sign up next Friday.
I can't believe we are entering the last quarter of first grade.  Wow the time has flown!!

I hope you are taking time this Lent to spend time as a family around God's Word.  I would encourage you to complement that family devotion time with weekend worship.

Amy Bernhardt
