Hark the glad sound
The Savior comes
The Savior promised long
Let every heart prepare a throne
And every voice a song!
ADVENT SERVICE: We will lead worship WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 20 at 10 and 7. We will begin practicing in the church for our service soon. PLEASE practice your child's individual part focusing in on loud and slow!
For the morning service the class should wear their uniforms and for the evening wear church clothes or uniform, no jeans please.
Please have your child to the church basement on Wednesday night at 6:50.
For our Christmas party on December 22 we will be baking cookies to give to others. Thank you to the parents who have already emailed me to help. I will send out an email to let you know details next week. Plan on being at school from 9-11. If you can help and haven't let me know please email me and I will include you on the helper email.
Thanks for the added helping hands!
For our class Christmas service project we will be making plarn. Plarn is plastic yarn, made from plastic bags. Our class will be looping the cut plastic bags together to make the plarn. Women from Zion will be crocheting the plarn into mats for homeless people. The mats will be distributed thru St. Joachim and Ann Care Services. Thank you for those who have sent in bags. Feel free to continue sending in plastic bags. If you would like to help cut the bags I can send some home for you to cut.
Our class is excited to help others and share Jesus love!

Please have you child take their time with the MATH HOMEWORK. Many students have not been following the directions or doing all the steps to the math problems. Please look over the math homework and let them know if they have missed something. You could say, "I see something you forgot to do. Can you find it?"
We continue to work on responsibility. Please help me help your child with being responsible for their things, if your child forgets something PLEASE DO NOT bring it back up to school. I work with them on how to solve the problem of the missing item. There isn't really a consequence for the occasional late work or missing items. For example if you are missing your folder you can borrow mine, if you are missing your homework you can do new paper at recess or bring the homework tomorrow. When items are brought up it doesn't help the learning process of problem solving. Thank you.
We are learning about and celebrating Advent with special devotions, ornaments for our tree, an advent calendar, and taking turns extinguishing the candles on the Advent wreath.

Kids Helping Kids –
The fifth graders are trying to make a difference for one family whose 5 year old daughter is diagnosed with cancer. The kids will be selling hot chocolate and to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for the family of 7. Their goal is to be able to buy 3 gifts per child. To help reach their goal they will be selling hot chocolate on Tuesday and Wednesday next week after lunch. You can buy a cup for $1 before heading out for noon recess. Help us raise money while also staying warm.

We made predictions, observations, recorded results and shared our information.
We dissolved candy canes in hot water, cold water, vinegar, and oil.
What do you predict will dissolve first?
