March 11, 2016

This week we learned that God gives food to the birds and beautiful clothes to the flowers.  God loves us so much more than the birds and the flowers.  We need not worry, but TRUST God as He gives us what we need.  We thank God that He provides for our earthly needs and that He sent Jesus to die and rise for us, He provides for our eternal needs!
May we continue to keep our focus on Christ this Lent.

ACHIEVEMENT TEST NEXT WEEK
Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.  This is the first time the students will be experiencing this type of testing.  It is important that they learn the process and get used to this type of evaluation tool.  Although in first grade the accuracy of the assessment maybe compromised due to the limited exposure to this type of test.  The test is another tool to help assess students achievement.  It is good to practice taking these types of tests and will give some sort of a baseline for future years.  We will be spending a lot of time this week talking and learning about taking tests as well as taking the achievement tests.  I always stress to just do your best.  Please don't put any pressure on your child about this test.  You probably don't even need to mention the tests to your child.

Many students even report this as a favorite week because we do  many fun activities between tests!

I will be gone 2 1/2 days next week.  I will be leaving Wednesday afternoon and will be gone through Friday.  I will be going with my husband to a conference in Las Vegas.  It is hard for me to miss school but the students will be in the very capable hands of Mrs. Heather Masa.

I will be posting the parent letter on the blog early on Wednesday next week.

WOW, What a great Grandparents' and Special Guest Day!  Thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who were able to join us for the day.  I was able to get a few pictures they are at the end of the pictures.  I hope that the special visitors enjoy seeing our school and the wonderful students!  Share this website with them so they can keep up with our classroom activities.

PLEASE SEND IN AN EGG CARTON WITH 12 PLASTIC EGGS to school by next FRIDAY, March 18.

Plan to attend the Zion Lutheran School Auction, to be held at Old Hickory Golf Club on April 15, 2016.
It is a great night to celebrate Zion and raise money for our school.  It would be fantastic to see many first grade parents attend.  Be looking for our class item in the upcoming blogs.

I have several students who have read all of my fluency books.  Those students will no longer receive leveled books on Mondays.  I DO still expect them to read each night and complete the reading logs.

Cleaner March 18: Linneman

Please make church a priority this weekend for your family.  As we continue our journey this Lent, may you look to Jesus our Savior and spend time in worship to Him.

In HIM,
