This week we talked about leaders.  God gives us leaders to guide us.  God called David, a little shepherd boy, to be the leader of His chosen nation.  Even though David was little God gave him gifts and skills to help others as a faithful leader.  We are young, and small, and may not feel important, but God has given us different gifts and we can use those gifts to help others and guide them to Jesus.  Jesus takes away the sin from our hearts and fills our hearts with HIS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, and KINDNESS!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Wednesday, November 19

For your chapel offering please bring food for Seminarian’s Thanksgiving Baskets or other food bank items needed. Chapel offering money will be used to purchase turkeys. Seminarians are from all over the United States and some do not get to go home for Thanksgiving.  We can help them have a great holiday dinner by donating from the many blessings God has given us!

I have a basket in our room if you would like to send the food in before Wednesday.

 We wanted to provide the money for one turkey for the Thanksgiving food drive.  

We colored one turkey for each dollar we brought in.

We collected $21 to provide a turkey from our class!

We continue to support Pastor Sam Thomson and the CRC, Christian Resources Center in India.  So far this year we have collected $1,263 in offerings to support the ministry in India.  Pastor Sam shared with us the mission of the CRC is to GO- to the villages where the children are, PREACH- Jesus is the true God who wants to love and save them, and TEACH- the Bible through Bible studies, Village groups, and 150 special events throughout the year.  Pastor Sam shared a story about a boy who didn't know about and umbrella and how to use it.  Pastor Sam told us we need to use the Bible, we need to open it, read it, and study the Bible so that we can know about Jesus.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Pastor Sam and the children of India and the CRC.

The weather has certainly taken a turn towards winter.

Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the temperatures.  We will go out for recess each day unless the wind chill is below 10 degrees.  

Heavy coats, hats, gloves, and scarfs are a good idea:)

Please make worship a priority in your family's weekend plans.  We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to worship together.  Be a leader in your family and feed your child's faith by going to church.

In Social Studies we learned about Veterans.  Thank you Veteran Dan Tyler for coming in and telling us about being in the Army.  I want to personally thank the parents in our class who have served our country.  Thank you for defending my freedom.

Congratulations Zion's Varsity Volleyball Team on the 

VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

 

 We put together the poem, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider".

 We sequenced making applesauce.

 We built sentences.

 We used shapes to cover designs making them different from our partner.

 We wrote books about a pet.

 We always practice spelling.

 We reviewed short vowels by sorting short vowel words.

We did a computer game where we sorted animals into groups.

 In spelling we built words using the -um and -ut chunk.

 In art we cut out the silhouettes of the nativity scene.  Look for an Artsonia update to purchase this artwork for Christmas gifts.

We learned common and proper nouns.

 We are studying dimes in math.

 We made a habitat for a pet in science.

 Our journal entry this week was, "When it is cold I..."

 We worked with partners to find the problem and solution in our guided reading.

We played games with the vocabulary words from our guided reading book.

 We partner read our guided reading story focusing on using expression when we read.
