As we enter the third week in Advent we remember the JOY that Jesus brings to us both at Christmas and all year.  We have complete JOY knowing that Jesus came to free us from the slavery of sin, death, and the devil.  We have complete JOY knowing that we are given the gift of new life.

Rejoice, Rejoice, Immanuel

ADVENT SERVICE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 10:00 and 7:00

For the morning service your child should just wear the school uniform, no 'fancy' clothes please.

For the evening service please have your child in the church basement at 6:40.  Please keep your child's coat.
For this service your child may wear a Christmas outfit, other Church clothes, or school uniform.  Please no jeans. After the service your child will be waiting for you in the Welcome Center.

We have been working hard on this service.  We each have our individual part and our songs ready.  We are excited to share the message of Jesus birth.

Literacy Centers:
we will be finishing up centers from this past week

  There will be no leveled readers next week. 

CLASS CHRISTMAS PARTY: Friday, December 20 at 10:15

Parent help is needed please email me if you are able to help.  We will do activities from 10:15-11:15 then we will eat a pizza lunch. 

EARLY DISMISSAL: Friday December 20 school is dismissed at 12:00 (after the Christmas Party)

CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECT

You still have till Wednesday to bring in diapers and wipes for the THRIVE organization.

Show your love and support for preschooler Drew Albritton: 

Please remember to pray for Drew and his family over break.  Help teach your child to show love, compassion, and the power of prayer.  I put Drew's address in my email so you can send him a note or card over break!!

Friday December 20 is BOBCAT SPIRIT DAY!!  Wear your Zion shirts with standardized bottoms.

In this busy time please remember the JOY of Jesus coming and the JOY that only He can bring.  Make time for family, do something fun together, make time for worship, get your strength for the coming week!

           ADVENTURES IN CHRISTMAS
               with Elvis our class monkey

Elvis started the week in the Advent Wreath.

He told us to light 2 candles.

Elvis sure liked to climb this week.  
He told us to SHINE for JESUS!

Elvis ascended Writing Center's wall and hung a stocking.

Elvis scampered up the book shelf but not before he put a candy cane treat in each of our art boxes.

Elvis even helped the Friday Cleaner by dusting on top of the Smartboard.

At poetry we get to put together a poem about presents and then try to guess what is in each gift.

We are making ornaments each day with our special Advent devotions.

We are cutting out pieces for our Nativity Scene.

We painted wood blocks for our Nativity Scenes.

Here we are glueing the people onto our blocks.

We cut out the Nativity characters.

We sanded the blocks, twice!

We are putting the final top coat on the blocks.
Enjoy using the Christmas Block Nativity at your home.

Mrs. Hoehner and Mrs. Stanglein's preschool classes did a play of the Christmas Story for us.

We made wrapping paper.

We made candy canes.

We practiced telling the Christmas story with our nativity blocks.

We spent a lot of time working on our Advent Service.
We can't wait to tell you the GOOD NEWS!
