November 1, 2013

This week we learned about Martin Luther.  We learned that the Holy Spirit made him bold to tell the truth about God.  He told others what the Bible tells us about God.  Martin Luther wrote 95 true statement, thesis, about God.  He nailed them to the church door on October 31, 1517.  He wanted everyone to read and know the truth about God.  In First Grade we pray that God makes us bold to tell others the truth about God.  I had the class write down true statements about God.
  Here they are:
First Grade 1B's 16 Thesis

God is good.
God helps when we are hurt, sick, and bleeding too.
God is kind.
God is amazing.

God forgives us.
Jesus died on the cross.
God is loving.
God takes care of us.
God is not mean to us.

You've heard of the Baby Boomers, the Gen Xr's and Gen Y'rs, but what about today's kids? Today's kids are a "different animal".  Consider these facts about today's kids: they've never rode a bike without a helmet, never road in a car without a seatbelt, have always cooked popcorn in a microwave, and think that Bono and Madonnna are aging singers.  Today's generation of kids are referred to as Generation iY.  Come to Bible study at Zion starting this Sunday and learn how we can best parent and educate this generation of kids.  Based on Author Tim Elmore's book, Jon Bernhardt will lead you through a discussion rich study on Generation iY!

This Bible Study will be held in the church basement, Family Life Center.  It will begin at 9:30.
This will be a great opportunity to learn how to effectively parent the next generation.
I hope to see many of you there.
Look in the Friday Folders for the TOGETHER WE'RE BETTER CONTEST!

Have a wonderful weekend, remember to change your clock so you are not too early for church.  This weekend we celebrate All Saint's Day.  We worship our God who makes us His saints through the blood of Jesus. Please come to  the Bible Study about parenting the iY generation.
