THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE:

In the month of November we support the Seminarian Food Bank.  Seminarians are men studying to be pastors.

We provide 20 Thanksgiving meals to Seminarian Families unable to go home for Thanksgiving.

The Student Council has assigned a food item to each grade.

Please check for the expiration date and bent cans. Thank you!

1st Grade Stuffing, Boxed/Canned Potatoes and Broth

Thank you for helping to provide Thanksgiving dinners to 20 seminarians.
Our offerings for the month of November will go to buy the turkeys.
What a great way to help support those who spread the Good News.
You may send food in anytime between now and November 19.

1st/2nd Grade Advent Service
-Our Advent services will be Wednesday, December 17 at 10:00 and 7:00 in the Zion Sanctuary. For more information please see the October 29 blog post.

We have begun learning new material in phonics, reading, and math! In reading, I would love your help at home. Please take a few minutes to have your child practice decoding and reading fluently. As you know, each child learns differently—some are able to decode and read smoothly while focusing on comprehension, while others need more practice with fluency and accuracy.

To encourage extra reading at home, I’ve told the students that if they read their “Roll and Read” sheets or stories with a parent and have them signed, they can earn a BONUS sticker (you may have already heard about this!).

If you ever see a teacher stamp next to your signature, that’s my note to let you know your child needs a bit of extra practice with that particular skill.

Thank you so much for your partnership! With 18 students, it’s hard to give each one the one-on-one reading time I’d love to every day, so your help at home truly makes a difference.

Don't forget we are moving on to MATH FACTS Sums to 10.  Please check the yellow folders for the Fact Assessment.  If your child did not pass sums to 6 with 30 problems in one minute please continue working on sums to 6 with them.
You can find extra practice at: Math on Fire
I have shared in the Friday Folder the First Quarter Phonics/Spelling packet in case you would need it to practice.

Have a wonderful weekend.
May worship be a priority for your family.
In HIM,
Amy
