THANKSGIVING DEVOTION:
This week our class will be working on a child led Thanksgiving devotion for his/her family.  The devotion will come home on Thursday.  The devotion will be in a large manilla envelope. I hope you encourage your child and give them the opportunity to lead the devotion.  What a great step in the children's faith development to lead a devotion and share the Bible with you.
Advent begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Advent is a time that we prepare for the birth of Jesus our Savior.
At school we will have an advent wreath to help us count down the weeks till Christmas.

Your child will be making a special Advent Candle devotion center for your family this Wednesday in Art. Thank you Dr. Bernhardt for cutting the wood for our project.

Mrs. Brenner and I have purchased special devotions for you to do at home as well.   Look for both in your child's book bag on Wednesday.  We want you to have it ready to go on the first Sunday of Advent, December 1.

Wednesday, Nov. 19-
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE:

In the month of November we support the Seminarian Food Bank.  Seminarians are men studying to be pastors.

We provide 20 Thanksgiving meals to Seminarian Families unable to go home for Thanksgiving.

The Student Council has assigned a food item to each grade.

Please check for the expiration date and bent cans. Thank you!

1st Grade Stuffing, Boxed/Canned Potatoes and Broth
for potatoes mashed, sweet, slices, etc.

Thank you for helping to provide Thanksgiving dinners to 20 seminarians.
Our offerings for the month of November will go to buy the turkeys.
What a great way to help support those who spread the Good News.
You may send food in anytime between now and November 19.

1st/2nd Grade Advent Service
-Our Advent services will be Wednesday, December 17 at 10:00 and 7:00 in the Zion Sanctuary. For more information please see the October 29 blog post.

MATH FACTS- SUMS TO 10
We have started working on sums to 10. On Fridays, students will be timed and assessed on sums to 6. These assessments will count toward their Math grade. We’ll continue learning and practicing sums to 10 before timed tests are recorded for a grade on sums to 10.
We learned about Veteran's Day and celebrated the day by thanking veterans at our special chapel service on Tuesday.
Come celebrate Advent and prepare for our coming Savior at our Advent Family Fun Day on December 6! Join us anytime between 2:30-4:30pm for child-friendly activities all focused on the season of Advent. There will be storytime, a scavenger hunt, a photobooth, craft, snack, and more!  This is for everyone you do not need to be a Zion church member!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Amy
