November 13, 2015

This week we talked about leaders.  God gives us leaders to guide us.  God called David, a little shepherd boy, to be the leader of His chosen nation.  Even though David was little God gave him gifts and skills to help others as a faithful leader.  We are young, and small, and may not feel important, but God has given us different gifts and we can use those gifts to help others and guide them to Jesus.  Jesus takes away the sin from our hearts and fills our hearts with HIS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, and KINDNESS!

CHRISTMAS SERVICE PROJECT
The tradition at Zion is for each class to adopt a service project at Christmas.  We do a service project instead of exchanging gifts as a class.

This year our class will be supporting PASTOR SAM THOMSON as he pastors a group of Nepali Refugees in the St. Louis area.  We will be buying Christmas gifts for the 24 refugees and Pastor Sam Thomson will be delivering the gifts at the church's Christmas party on December 19.  These refugees are very poor and these will be the only gifts they have this Christmas.  What a great opportunity to SHOW and SHARE Jesus!

Our class will be collecting MONEY to purchase the gifts.  The money may be brought to school beginning Monday, November 30-December 11.  I will have a gift basket to put the money in.  We will be going on a field trip to Walmart to purchase the gifts.I would also like to provide a rubbermaid filled with toiletries and other consumables.  I will need chaperones to help on December 18 for our shopping and wrapping.  More information and permission slips after Thanksgiving.

The weather has certainly been unseasonable warm.  But as we approach colder weather,
please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the temperatures.  We will go out for recess each day unless the wind chill is below 10 degrees.
Heavy coats, hats, gloves, and scarfs are a good idea:)
Friday Cleaner Next Week:

Please make worship a priority in your family's weekend plans.  We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to worship together.  Be a leader in your family and feed your child's faith by going to church.
