December 13, 2024

This week with our offering our class has been able to fund the translation of 5 Bible verses.  The verse we sponsored this week was perfect for Advent:

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1:5

1st/2nd Grade Advent Service

We are working on our Advent Service. We continue to practice our special Bible verse part and songs.

-Our Advent services will be Wednesday, December 18th in the Zion Sanctuary.
-The students will be leading the Advent chapel during school at 10 am and they will need to wear their normal standardized dress.
-Students will also be leading the church service at the 7 pm service that evening.  Please have your child arrive at 6:45 p.m. in the church basement. Teachers will not be in the church basement until this time, so please stay with your child until a teacher arrives. Students will need to be wearing standardized dress or church clothes. No jeans please.  Please keep your child's coat and belongings with you because after the service you will be meeting your child in the narthex/welcome center area near the sanctuary.
-Your child will need to be in attendance at both services; parents and family are welcome to come to either service.
We will move to the front of the church to do our speaking part and song. I will take a picture that I will share.
I want you to know that it is harder to see the kids when you are in the front/side pews. I recommend sitting in one of the middle sections of the church.

LOOK FOR ALL CHRISTMAS ART TO COME HOME NEXT WEEK IN A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS BAG!!!

This week we learned that an angel are God's messengers.
An angel told Mary and Joseph that they would have a special baby and they should name him
JESUS, which means "GOD SAVES".

May we be God's messengers as we tell others the GOOD NEWS that Jesus the Savior is born!

Don't forget to light the PINK candle on Sunday!
In the Joy of Jesus,
Amy
We continue to add names of Jesus to our special Advent Devotion Tree.

Our Christmas Monkey...
told us we all make mistakes.
He gave us erasers and said to rejoice because Jesus came to erase our sins!
brought us books about Jesus birth!
gave us Christmas cards to give to others.
gave us new crayons, blue pencils and dry erase erasers!
helped us decorate our tree!
