March 1, 2017

Sign us with ashes, merciful God,

children of dust, as to dust we return.

Sign us with ashes, merciful God,

mark us and make us your own."

God has marked us at our baptisms.  He makes us His and promises to never let go.  As we journey through Lent let us focus on the price that was paid for us.  To claim us God sacrificed His only Son.  Praise be to God for His everlasting love for us.

I hope your family will use the Lent worship center.  May this be a reminder to spend time as a family around God’s Word and in prayer.  After Lent you may take the candles out (Save them for next year) and hang the cross up with the plain side out.  Then it is a year long reminder of our SAVIOR!!  Thank you to Mr. Bernhardt, for cutting out the cross pieces for us to put together!

GRANDPARENT'S / SPECIAL FRIEND'S DAY
FRIDAY MARCH 11
Please let you grandparent or special guest know the schedule that was in the invitation.

The students should come to our classroom as usual and grandparents and special guest begin in the church basement. The grandparents and special friend will then come to the classrooms.  We encourage the families to stay together so First -Fifth grades will have activities set up in the rooms that all may enjoy. If your have more than one child they may all go together.  Just have the Grandparents/Special Friend pick up all the grandkids and go around to the various rooms and do activities.

The students will be dismissed from the church, so if the child's grandparent is not taking him/her home please come into the church to pick up your child.  I would arrive at 11:00. (in case we get done early)

PLEASE DO NOT SEND BACKPACKS to school on Friday.  Friday Folders will come home on Thursday. I look forward to spending sometime with our Grandparents and special guests.

BOOK FAIR:  Next week we will be going to the Book Fair Wednesday morning.  If your child would like to purchase a book please send money in an envelope with your child's name on the front.  I will collect the envelopes and help children make purchases.  See flyer in the Friday Folder.

The BOOK FAIR WILL BE OPEN ON GRANDPARENT'S and SPECIAL FRIEND DAY.  Grandparents and guests may take the child to the  during the center time on Grandparent's Day.
Please return this form Monday if you have not done so already.

It is hard to believe that next Friday is the end of the 3rd quarter.  Before you know it this first graders will be second graders!

The sign of the cross marks us as one redeemed by Christ!
Have a great rest of the week and weekend,
In HIM,
Amy Bernhardt

Mr. Hansen told us that Jesus took on our sins.  He washed them away and makes us clean.

Remembering Jesus Took Our Dark Dirty Sins to the Cross
We wrote sins on black paper.

We prayed asking God for forgiveness.

We nailed our sins to the cross.

We remember Jesus died to forgive our sins.

We played SCOOT to help learn our phonics sounds: or, ar, ur, er, and ir.
