September 11, 2015

Mr. Hansen talked to us about super heroes and that they help keep people safe.
Mr. Hansen said that even some of us our really strong, but our strength runs out.
 Mr. Hansen then told us about the only true super hero, JESUS!
Jesus is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.

THURSDAY September 17 IS OUR FIELD TRIP. 


Please fill out the permission form in the Friday folder and return it to school in the Friday folder on MONDAY!

 We will be doing a garden class, eating lunch, and doing a self tour at the  MISSOURI BOTANICAL GARDEN.  

Children should wear the RED ZION T-SHIRT and BRING A SACK LUNCH, no peanut or peanut butter please.  

We plan to eat in the provided room inside after the class then go on a short tour.  

Chaperones must be in the classroom by 8:05, you may just wait after you drop your child off if you want.
Thank you to our chaperones: Mrs. Krizbai, Mr. Ingles, Mrs. Linneman, Mrs. Paradis, and Mrs. Alexander.

NO SCHOOL FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18, as Zion is hosting the area Lutheran School Teachers for one day conference.

LEVELED READING BOOKS:  On Monday your child will bring home a book that is on your child's level and your child should be able to read it with minimal help.  Please have your child read these books, they should even read them several times.  This helps to build fluency and self confidence.  Please send the books back on the following Monday. Each week your child will receive a new book. 

Reading is so important in First Grade.  The best way to become a good reader is to READ, READ, READ!  Thank you for helping your child become a good reader.




I am in need of 40 adult size shoe boxes for a  service project at the end of October.
If you are able to help please send them in to school.





BOBCAT SHUFFLE: September 8th – 16th there will be a contest to see which classroom can get the most participants in the Bobcat Shuffle. Winning class gets to have a special dress down day! A PEEK at our WEEK!

Coloring plastic to make a Chihuly like sculpture.
We are using plastic plates and cups.



We used sharpie markers.


We made a poster about how God took care of Moses.
We changed the first letter to make a new word.
We learned about numbers between.
 
 It is fun to use shape tiles to cover up an design or create your own!





 At Phonics we matched end sounds.
 In Spelling we practice our words.
 In Writing we made a book about colors.
 In Math we put numbers in order.
 At Word Work we put a sentence  in the correct order.
 At Poetry we put together a poem.
Here we are ordering numbers 1-20.


We started guided reading this week.
 




 We learned about statements.  We even wrote a few.
 We painted cards to send our to those for whom we are praying.
I AM IN NEED OF MORE POSTAGE STAMPS TO OUR CARDS!

We observed the seeds in our bags and learned about plant parts.
