September 19, 2014

Mr. Hansen talked to us in chapel about God's Word being a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.  To illustrate this he showed us different lights and told us as that as we need more guidance God gives us that guidance and lights our way.  Thank you God for your Word.  Thank you for guiding us in Your Ways.

May we be in His Word and may He guide our path.

Monday September 22 IS OUR FIELD TRIP.
Chaperones must be in the classroom by 8:15, you may just wait after you drop your child off if you want. We will be doing a garden class, eating lunch, and doing a self tour at the  MISSOURI BOTANICAL GARDEN.  Children should wear the RED Rejoice, Pray, Give Thanks ZION T-SHIRT and BRING A SACK LUNCH, no peanut or peanut butter please.  We plan to eat in the provided classroom after the class then go on a short tour.

LEVELED READING BOOKS:  On Monday your child will bring home a book that is on your child's level and your child should be able to read it with minimal help.  Please have your child read these books, they should even read them several times.  This helps to build fluency and self confidence.  Please send the books back on Friday. Each week your child will receive a new book.

Reading is so important in First Grade.  The best way to become a good reader is to READ, READ, READ!  Thank you for helping your child become a good reader.

BOBCAT SHUFFLE: Please help make our FALL FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS.  We need runners and volunteers.  If you can help please go to: eventcow.org under "Bobcat Shuffle 2014"

Faith Family Prayer Time
We sit with our Faith Families for Chapel and meet once a month for a special activity.
Faith Families are lead by a teacher and contain students in all grades 1-8.

We filled a coat with many colors of ways God blesses us.
We started guided reading groups this week.
We read a book....

...and worked on some writing.

We matched end sounds.

We wrote a book about colors.
We played a game to review our sight words.
We practiced putting numbers in order 1-20.
We corrected sentences by adding a capital letter and end mark.

We MUSTACHE you a question!

We took seeds out off apples and made a chart to show how many seeds were in our apples.

If you give a seed what it needs it will GROW!
We looked at the different parts of plants.

We are learning about Dale Chihuly!
We will be making a "glass"sculpture!
