We are learning to FOCUS, using our eyes, ears, and brain.  When we FOCUS we look at the person talking, we listen to what the person is saying, and we use our brain to think about what the person is telling us to do.  Sometimes we even repeat in our head what they said to remember.  This is something you could practice at home!

CENTER WORK
A center that was completed this week!

We worked on our centers this week.  If  centers for the week are completed by Friday, the students get fun Friday.  If centers are not done it needs to be completed before going to fun station.  If it is still not done the center will be sent home to finish over the weekend. Please check your child's Friday Folder to see if he/she has a center to CAR- complete and return next week. If the paper is marked OK it has already been corrected!

A center that was NOT completed after two 15 minute centers.
I will send home the center materials and it will need to be completed at home.

You may also see Math CAR- Correct and Return papers, please make corrections and return to school the next day.

We took our first assessed spelling and math tests today and you can see the test in your child's Friday Folder.

Please look at how the tests are graded.

I will not be marking reversals and capital letters on the sound and word portion but I will remind them to use lower case letters.  I will start marking these wrong once we have done a few tests.

You will notice on any assessment that I will mark them P=proficient, working on grade level

NP= nearing proficient, not quite working on grade level
N=not proficient, working below grade level

I am so excited our class has brought in $75 for chapel offering.
Envelopes come home in the Red Folder on Tuesdays.
Our offerings this year are going to the Teachers and Preachers Scholarship fund.

It is exciting to see the students learn the routine of first grade.  I am very proud that they come in and do the morning work with few reminders.  I am also so pleased at how the students are working during independent reading centers.
Way to be hard workers and independent!

Have a wonderful 4 day weekend!

Make you make worship a priority for your family!

Chosen by God,

Amy

DEVOTIONS
Devotion leader gets to ring the bells while we sing the Doxology,

We did an activity with our Faith Family partner.  Our partners are 8th grades who sit with us in chapel.
After chapel our Faith Families gathered to do a getting to know you activity and have a special prayer time.

Josh Swartz gave our chapel and talked to us about God's calling to be a Church worker and told us about the Future Teachers and Preachers Scholarship our chapel will be supporting.
We also celebrated Baptismal Birthdays for July, August, and September.
Congratulations to the Leveritt Family on the birth of Maxwell Grace!

On Thursday we attending the dedication to KIMBER'S OUTDOOR CLASSROOM.
