We SING in Church THIS SUNDAY, October 3, at 11:00!

Please have your child in the upstairs music room 
at 10:45 to warm up. Look for Mrs. Kuhlmann or me to direct you up the stairs.  
After the service you my pick up your child from the WELCOME CENTER, the lobby in the back of the church.
This is the Welcome Center in the back of church.  

Upcoming Dates:

October 5: Cardinal Day

We will cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals next Tuesday by wearing Cardinals' gear.

The Cardinals' play in the Wild Card game on Wednesday, but we will be celebrating a day early due to Picture Retake Day.

Students can wear a Cardinal shirt and jeans (appropriate-length jean shorts) or dress bottoms.

October 6 : Picture Day 

Several of you have let me know that your child needs to get his/her picture taken.  Please email me if your child needs to get his/her picture taken.

October 20: Super Hero Toy Collection



Avengers Assemble!


On Wednesday October 20, we will be having a special Super Hero Day.  In honor of Drew Albrittons’ birthday, we will be wearing Super Hero T-Shirsts and collecting superhero items that will be delivered to the superheroes at Friends of Kids with Cancer and they will distribute them to children and their siblings through the pediatric cancer treatment centers in St. Louis at Mercy Kids, St. Louis Children’s, and Cardinal Glennon hospitals. Drew’s family has donated 2,000 superhero items, in the memory of Drew, to kids battling cancer.

Drew was a preschooler here at Zion who bravely fought cancer and now is with the biggest superhero of all, Jesus!  The Albrittons thank you for your support in avenging pediatric cancer in honor of Drew.


Please bring your superhero items to school by October 20, we will take them over to chapel on Wednesday, October 20.  Action figures, costumes, toys, movies, backpacks, Lego sets, video games, shirts, or any items with a super hero theme are all welcome. 

October 27: Fall Service Project Harvest Party

We will be doing a service project for our Harvest Party.  We will be make care packages for college students.  I will be purchasing snacks to send, the students will be writing letters and putting Bible verses on post it notes to send. You can help by donating money to purchase the snacks.  You can send me a donation to the service project via VENMO,  or send money in an envelope and give to me. My VENMO is @Amy-Bernhardt-3.  Please send money by October 20.  I will get a Thrivent Grant to pay for the shipping of the care packages.  We plan to make and send 20 care packages. Thank you for your help.

If you have any college students in your family please send me their addresses.


October 27: Johnny Appleseed Day 

Please have your child bring an apple to school as we will be filling our morning with fun apple activities to celebrate Johnny Appleseed.  


October 28: No School

We have been working on sentences.  You will see our first sentence assessment in the Friday Folders.  On the back you will see the progression we are looking for in First Grade.
