Our summer birthday celebration will be next Friday, May11! I will provide a birthday treat to celebrate all the summer birthdays!!

We have been working on counting dimes, nickels, and pennies.  This is something you could practice at home.

We do go outside at several times during the peak sun hours.
You may want to put sunscreen on your child in the morning or send some in their book bag to put on before recess.

On Friday, May 18th, students in grades 1-8 will participate in a “Faith Family Field Day”.  We will eat a picnic lunch, play games, and have one last fun time with our Faith Families!  Zion will be providing cheese pizza from Domino's, goldfish and water for the picnic lunch.  If your child does not want that lunch or is unable to eat that lunch due to allergies, please have your child bring a cold lunch on Friday, May 18th.  Your child will also be spending the afternoon out in the sun, so please apply sunscreen in the morning before your child comes to school.  This will also be a SPECIAL SPIRIT DAY your child may wear a Zion/LHS t-shirt and non uniform bottoms!  Thanks!

To help prevent the summer academic slide... I will be having a summer reading camp.  This camp will focus on maintaining on grade level reading and writing. Each session will include reading, writing, and an activity. It will be held on Tuesdays in the mornings.  I like to keep the sessions small.
I plan on having two sessions, 9-10:15 and 10:30-11:45. The sessions will be on June 5, June 12, June 26, July 10, July 17, and July 24.

You may sign up for some or all of the weeks. The cost will be $15.00 a week.  If you are interested and would like to sign up please go to the google doc form and put your name on the time and date you would like to attend.

Schnucks – Bags 4 My Cause program:
The Schnucks Supermarket located in St. Charles has chosen Zion as the latest beneficiary of the
Schnucks – Bags 4 My Cause program!
This means for the entire month of May, every time the reusable Giving bag with the message “Giving is in the Bag” is purchased

at the Schnucks store located at 1950 Zumbehl Rd., St. Charles MO we receive $1!
This is truly a great opportunity for us and an easy way for you to show your support for Zion!
Please go to the store, find the reusable bag rack and buy a few Giving bags!
And remember to spread the word – the more bags purchased, the bigger donation to Zion.

We can't wait to share with you the musical.

Have a wonderful weekend, I can't wait to celebrate Ella Grace's baptism on Sunday and watch the HOLY SPIRT do HIS work in her heart!

In HIM,
Amy Bernhardt

We meet as Faith Family once a month to pray and do an activity.  During the prayer time this year we have been focusing on spending 5 minutes each day praying.  Our activity this month was based on 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Be Thankful in ALL Circumstances.  We wrote thank you notes to the many volunteers that help our school.  We ending our time celebrating baptism birthdays for May and June.  We look forward to our last Faith Family event, FIELD DAY!

We have been learning about PENTECOST.
We used "wind" to spread the paint on our flame.

We put our flames on a tree.  Trees grow and PENTECOST was the beginning of the church and  the HOLY SPIRT helped the church grow and grow.

The Holy Spirit is working in us.
These kids shared clear crystals to remind us the Jesus washes away our sins!!
How do you spell people?

We worked on rounding numbers to the nearest 10.

We have been studying the moon and its phases.

We liked using OREOS to make the phases of the moon.

We made a moon and wrote moon facts.

We learned about awesome orbits.
The moon orbits the earth.

The earth orbits the sun.

We celebrated baptismal birthdays this week!

My dog Moseley came to school as part of her training.
She is learning to listen to books.

The MAGIC HOUSE came to us and we learned about
taking care of the Earth God has given to us.

We learned about REDUCING what we use.

Did you know that if 300 kids brought their lunch in a brown bag for a school year the bags would fill a school bus!
That's a lot of trash.

We learned about magnets and how they can be used to sort trash and remove the parts that can be RECYCLED.

We learned about cleaning up oil spill and not to pollute.

We learned about water filtration we can REUSE water after it is cleaned.

We learned about RECYCLING paper.

We have been practicing counting coins!!

We made 3D cartoon people like Keith Haring.
