I am still trying to come up with something our class can do to help the Albritton Family and show them our love and support.  I know that they have not been to the grocery store for a long time and there is a website to sign up for meals.  If anyone has any ideas of how to provide christian support to this family please let me know.  At the very least keep them in your prayers.

Christ is Risen, HE IS RISEN INDEED!
Continue the celebration of Easter this weekend in church!!

Seeing changes outside, but wonder what is happening inside the walls?  Lots! Mark Lekar, Marc Debrick, and others will be conducting tours to members and school parents interested in seeing the progress inside the school’s construction zone.
The tours will take place this Sunday, April 27 from 10:30 – 12:30 pm  The building will be open during those times and we will ask entry into the new buildings to be through the school hallway doors adjacent to the kitchen and Miss Limback’s room (inside the main school building).  Please, no access by crossing any fence lines (too many obstacles and possibly mud if you cross a fence). You will be free to roam once inside and several folks will be present to answer questions. Please be cognizant that this is a construction site and all smaller children must be kept in check to avoid any possible injuries – we want all to visit and enjoy the excitement but caution that all must be careful while the site is open.

We have been working on being independent at centers.  Here is a look at our centers this week.

We have new Reading Buddies!

We enjoy working on the computers.
Practicing Pronouns
We can illustrate a poem, showing we can read and comprehend the sentences.

We still practice spelling each week.

We can write a paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 detail sentences, and a closing sentence.

We know the ar, or, and ir sounds.

We made a book for Mrs. Schmidt to help her celebrate Administrative Professional Day,
First Grade, First Grade What Do You See, Mrs. Schmidt Doing?

We love "SPARKLE"!

We are practicing working with each other in groups.
In this activity the students were given the problem to divide the blocks evenly with the group.
The tricky part was making them even and having extras!

We are learning about weather, here is our song about different types of clouds!
We made Cloud People.

We used cotton balls to show the different cloud types.

We even put legs on the clouds to show if the clouds were low or high in the sky.

Surely He took up our pain

and bore our suffering,

yet we considered Him punished by God,

stricken by Him, and afflicted.

But He was pierced for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on Him,

and by His wounds we are healed.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

each of us has turned to our own way;

and the LORD has laid on Him

the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:4-6

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.
Come and see the place where He lay.  Then go quickly and tell His disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee.
There you will see Him.’ Now I have told you.”
                                                Matthew 28:5-7

In our RISEN SAVIOR,
Amy Bernhardt
We learned a lot about Holy Week and
we made special eggs to help us tell the story to others.
We each came up with our own names for the eggs.
We read Bible verses to remember different parts of the story.

We put special items into each egg.

We can't wait to share this GREAT story with you!

In Chapel on Maundy Thursday, Pastor Rouland told us that Maundy means commandment.
He told us Jesus gave us the
commandment to love each other.
He showed us three ways to love,
GIVE, SHARE, COMFORT.
I know that Drew's family
has been having a tough time.
I am thinking of a way we can
show them God's love.
Look for an email next week.
We have been working on our plays.
Look for the videos next week.

We made scenery.

In art we learned about different lines.

We drew different lines on an umbrella.

Enjoy the week in review...
When you see a baby you say...
We learn this sound can be spelled two ways.
We then played a game practicing the au/aw sound.
The game was a lot of fun!
In math we learned that people used to measure with their feet.
Trouble is everyone's feet are different.
Then we learned about the official measure of a foot.
We looked for things in our room that are one foot.
We also learned about a dozen and half dozen.
We made funny math stories using a dozen.
We studied the artist Alexander Calder.  He made Kinetic Sculptures. We were inspired and made a fish mobil.

Alexander Calder Kinetic Sculpture

Come and see our sculptures.  Feel free to blow them and watch them move.
We are working on groups on performing a play.
Fun Friday iPod.
Fun Friday game of the day: Sorry
Fun Friday: Reading at class library.
Sixth Graders came in to remind us about Sparrow's Nest and our Chapel offerings.
We did an experiment in changing states of matter.
The warmth from our hands turned a solid into a liquid.
We removed the heat and the liquid become a solid.
We recorded the results and told what we learned.
We continue to make and send prayer cards to those in need of prayers.
Please continue to keep the Albritton Family in your prayers.
