November 3, 2023

We learned about Martin Luther and the Reformation.

We are thankful that Martin Luther was bold to tell the truths about God and His love for us in Jesus.

Martin used art to share the message of Jesus.

May we be BOLD like Martin Luther and tell others about God's everlasting, enduring, great love for us!

This weekend in church we celebrate  All Saint's Day, a day we remember saints of the church.  We learned the Saints are special people to God and His church.  Saints are FORGIVEN sinners whom God has CHOSEN to do HIS WORK in the world.  We are God's Saints FORGIVEN, CHOSEN, and WORKING for Him.

The Student Council has assigned a food item to each grade.
1st Grade - Stuffing & Boxed Potatoes
(mashed, sweet, slices, etc.)
Thank you for helping to provide Thanksgiving dinners to 25 seminarians.  Our offerings for the month of November will go to buy the turkeys.  What a great way to help support those who spread the Good News.

I use this rule to help us with coats... in the 30s you must wear a coat, in the 40s teacher's choice, in the 50s student's choice.
We do go outside unless the temperature or the real feel is below 10 degrees. Please make sure your child has appropriate winter wear. If there is every snow on the ground students may bring a separate pair of snow boots to change into so they may go in the snow. Only children with a different pair of boots for the snow will be able to go in the snow. Please send the boots in a plastic bag so that after recess the boots can go into the bag and the hall can stay dry. Please do not send snow pants to school, we don't have time to put the snow pants on and off. Thank you

If your child has chapped lips please send chapstick for them to keep in their book bag to put on before and after recess.

MRS. STEINBACHER WANTED ME TO SHARE THESE...

 Dear Parents,

I am excited about the Sport Stacking unit we are currently doing in PE.  Sport Stacking is an exciting sport where students stack and unstack 12-specially designed cups (Speed Stacks) in specific patterns. Sport Stacking uses both sides of the body and brain developing important athletic and academic skills. For more information go to speedstacks.com (Learn to Stack).

Zion will be participating in the World Sport Stacking Days where we will attempt to help set a new world record for the most people sport stacking at various locations. The current record which we helped to set last year is 737,863. It would be very helpful to have parent volunteers on the following day:

Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 12:10-1:00pm FIRST GRADE will participate in the cup stacking World Record during the school day!

Mrs. Steinbacher has a limited supply of Speed Stacks Sets and Gen 5 Timers available for purchase at discounted prices and without shipping fees.

·      12 Speed Stack Cups- $22.00

·      Gen 5 Timer, stack mat, and gear bag-$32.00

·      The combo pack (my favorite)-12 Speed Stack Cups, Gen 5 Timer, stack mat, and gear bag- $50.00

Cash or check (made out to Zion Lutheran School) payment should be brought directly to me, or please email me with questions or to place a “secret” order.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Steinbacher    msteinbacher@zionharvester.org

Mileage Club First Quarter Report 2023

Our First through Third graders are required to walk/jog 3 laps around our cemetery path at the start of their lunch recess. Most students complete their 3 laps and then go on to play other games, but many students go above and beyond the required laps accumulating numerous laps and miles. Every student who completes at least 50 miles during the school year will receive a certificate at the end of the year.
