September 20, 2019

In Religion we learned about Jacob and how he lied to get his father's blessing.  We learned that Jacob repented and God forgave him and still loved him and took care of him.  God turned his heart around.
Repent means to turn around.  We too have a heart full of sin, yet God loves us, forgives us, and takes care of us.  We can turn our hearts around by repenting our sins.  God is faithful and just and He will forgive our sins and fill our hearts with Jesus.

Joseph was down and out.  His brothers wanted to kill him, instead they sold him into slavery.  He was in a foreign land as a slave alone.  Then he was wrongly accused and thrown into jail.  Things were bad.  We know that God used Joseph to save the people from the famine.  Joseph forgave his brothers and reunited his family.  What a wonderful God who works all things for good.

A sneak peek at our week...

Pastor Rouland talked to us about being CALLED.
Noah was called to do something difficult.
Abraham was called to change his plans and look to God.
Isaiah was called to do something scary.
Paul was called to take God's name and message to others.
We are CALLED to take God's name and message to others.
It may be difficult, we may need to change our plans, and it maybe scary.
God calls us, He loves us, He forgives us and He is with us always.
On Facebook there is a post asking are Lutheran schools worth it?  This pictures to me says yes...

HALF DAY WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 18.  School will be DISMISSED AT NOON.  Teachers will be in professional development in the afternoon.

SPELLING TEST:  I would like to try giving the spelling test on THURSDAYS, I will start next week.

LEVELED READING BOOKS:  On Monday your child will bring home a book that is on your child's level and your child should be able to read it with minimal help.  Please have your child read these books, they should even read them a couple nights/times.  The first time is still decoding and then the next times should be fluent.  Remember fluency isn't just rate but also inflection.   Reading more than once can also build self confidence.  Please send the books back on the following Monday. Each week your child will receive a new book.  If books are not returned or lost there is a $1 fee to replace the book.

Reading is so important in First Grade.  The best way to become a good reader is to READ, READ, READ!  Thank you for helping your child become a good reader.

I am so thankful that we have a God who is a promise KEEPER!  May you make time to worship Him this weekend!
