Auction is April 4, it is a great night.  It would be fun to have several first grade tables attend!!  We will be starting our special artwork for the auction!  You will want to be there to bid on the framed one of a kind student art!

We have had a lot of tardies lately.  Please help your child start the day on a good note by giving them enough time to come into the classroom, turn in the homework, mark lunch, and put on their gym shoes.  A reminder that we leave for music or P.E. at 8:02 everyday but Wednesday and then we go to church.  When your child comes in late they miss those classes as they need to do the other morning jobs first.  A good time to get to school is 7:50.  Thank you

Enjoy the long weekend.  Make a point to be in worship this weekend and join me in eating sausage on Sunday!

February 7, 2014

This week we learned the story of Jesus telling the little children to come to Him.  This is one of my favorite pictures of that story and it hung in my sister's room when we were growing up.  The class is very excited to learn how important they are to Jesus.  The class couldn't believe the disciples who told the children to go away.  This weekend bring your child to church so that they together with family can worship and be with Jesus.

SIX FLAGS 600 MINUTES of READING DUE: February 24

You may have noticed that we have been reviewing the sight words from past weeks on the back of the spelling test.  These are review and practice right now and are not being graded. In the fourth quarter these words will be graded as part of the spelling test.

I hope you read the email about the new MILESTONES MINISTRY.
Here is the important milestone for first graders.  This is for you and your child even if they have already turned 7.

The focus of this class is for 6 year olds and their parents to better understand worship and how to enhance the family worship experience; there will be a focus on The Lord’s Prayer. This is a 1 week class.   The milestone concludes with the 6 year olds and their parents presented a worship kit during the following week’s worship service.  Children will also lead Lord’s Prayer during that weekend’s worship service.  Parents will need to RSVP to attend this class.

Spring class:  March 2nd at 9:30 a.m., meeting in Zion’s School library
Presentation in church on March 9th at 8 a.m.
 OR
Fall class:  November 2nd at 9:30 a.m., meeting in Zion’s School library
Presentation in church on November 8th at 5 p.m. service

I have had a few concerns about cold temperatures.  I want to assure you that I will always keep your child's safety as a top priority.  Mr. Debrick keeps an eye on the temperature also.  If the 'real feel' or wind chill is in the single digits or below or the temperature is in the teens we will not be going out.  If the temperature is in the twenties  and the wind chill is above 2o then we may go outside for a few minutes.  Please dress your child appropriately for if we go out for a little fresh air when the temperatures are high enough.

Enjoy the weekend.  Stay warm. And bring your family to Jesus!

In Him,

Amy Bernhardt
We have started learning about money with our class store.

Look's good to me, Poptarts and cottage cheese.

Adjectives about ME...

...and me...

...and me..

...and us...

...and us!

We are writing the steps to get ready for bed.

We are working on alphabetizing words to the second letter.

Miss Kuecker, (a Lindenwood student working in our room this quarter) helps us at centers.

We can listen to books on tape if we finish our work on Fridays.

Indoor recess...we are hoping spring comes early!

Some of the class worked on a puppet show during recess.
The puppets asked for respect.

The play was about a busy bee.
