Hark the glad sound
The Savior comes
The Savior promised long
Let every heart prepare a throne
And every voice a song!

We will celebrate St. Nicholas in the classroom on Monday December 6. This is a German tradition that I grew up with and I like to share with my students. Traditionally on the night of December 5 you put your shoes outside and St. Nicholas comes and fills your shoes with candy, fruit, and coins. I want to give you a heads up in case your child puts his/her shoes outside on Monday night.
-Our Advent services will be Wednesday, December 15th in the Zion Sanctuary.
-The students will be leading the Advent chapel during school at 10 am and they will need to wear their normal standardized dress. Masks will be worn by the students at this service.
-Students will also be leading the church service at the 7 p.m. service that evening. Please have your child arrive at 6:45 p.m. in the church basement. Teachers will not be in the church basement until this time, so please stay with your child until a teacher arrives. Students will need to be wearing standardized dress or church clothes. Masks are optional for this service. Please keep your child's coat and belongings with you because after the service you will be meeting your child in the narthex/welcome center area near the sanctuary.
-Your child will need to be in attendance at both services; parents and family are welcome to come to either service. Please read through the administration's email that was sent out on 11/17 regarding mask regulations for the 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. services for adults that are attending the services.
A BIG THANK YOU to my dad, Paul Trinklein, for cutting out and my husband for painting 180 (plus 198 for Mrs. Kuhlmann's class) wood pieces for our Nativity scenes! (I sanding them and didn't loose any fingerprints) Look for these to come home next week!
We will have Christmas Spirit Week in two weeks, December 13-17!
I will not be sending the READING HOMEWORK word reading home with everyone. Some students are now ready to get a book sent home. This book is to practice fluency and to help students think about what they are reading. To be fluent most children need to read a book more than once. The first time to get the words and the second time to add expression and to read at the rate that we normal talk. Please read the book two different nights After reading the book a loud the second night ask some comprehension questions such as: tell me about the characters, setting, problem, and solutions. Tell me what happened at the Beginning, Middle, and End.
I will try to send the books home on Tuesdays and collect them on Tuesdays as well. Your child can keep the book in the front pocket of the homework folder or in the bring back to school side of the folder.
I hope your child has told you about some of the fun Christmas things we are doing in the classroom. Take a look at our pictures to see our week!
In HIS Peace,
Amy
I have the best job because I get to witness the work of the Holy Spirit as these precious children sing of Jesus Birth!
Did you hear about our Christmas Monkey? He is here to help us learn about Advent and gives us challenges that help us wait, prepare, rejoice and tell about Jesus coming at Christmas and His promise to come again!
