February 5, 2021

This is a favorite picture of mine, my sister had it in her room growing up.  Children are so precious to Jesus and this week we learned about how much Jesus loves all people.

Let the little children come to me, do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday February 11.  Please send your child’s Valentines in the morning.  We made our boxes and look forward to giving out the Valentines at the party, playing Bingo and eating a snack. Please send a valentine for each child in the class. Please see post from January 15 for a class list.

Excitement is building for our “Kids Heart Challenge” event.  Zion has participated in this fundraiser for the American Heart Association for over 20 years. Last year our enthusiastic students and their generous families and friends raised over $21,000 to help fight heart disease in Missouri. That was the highest amount Zion has raised and made Zion the #1 school in Missouri.

Please see the information forms in the Friday Folder.

Our class time for the event is Tuesday, February 16 at 12:30-1.

Students who have donated at least $5 will be able to wear athletic clothing on that day.

Please take the time to register your child online.  This helps Mrs. Steinbacher and can earn our class free recess equipment.

I am see way too many CAR for Math.   Many mistakes are not following directions or completing all the questions.Yes, we want First graders to become more responsible but doing math homework alone is not age appropriate right now.  Some students are not ready to read this level of homework.  If you have your child do the homework alone PLEASE check over the work.  If you want to add responsibility you could tell them "I see 2 that are not correct please find them and correct the paper"
I do expect CAR to be corrected and returned. I am trying to grade the Math during the day and sending the CAR work home the next day.  PLEASE help me, by helping your child with the MATH HOMEWORK.
Our classmate Ellie M. is moving and her last day at Zion will be February 25.  We will have a little Good Bye party that day.  Please pray for a smooth transition for Ellie and her family as they move.

A BIG thank you to the Richter Family for our class pet!  We are the proud parents of a painted dog at the St. Louis Zoo!  We look forward to naming him, learning about painted dogs, and 'caring' for our pet!

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you make worship a priority for your family!
In HIS Love,
Amy
