September 6, 2019

This week we learned about God protecting Noah and how God's rainbow reminds us of His promise to care and love us.  God used the flood to wash the earth; the world was given a new life.  God uses His Word and the waters of Baptism to wash our sins away and gives us the gift of eternal life.  I am thankful that God is faithful.
Remember God keeps His promises to us!

A LOOK AHEAD:
Religion: God's Promise to Abraham and Sarah and God gives Issac
Memory:Psalm 31:14 due by Thursday
Reading: guided reading groups- look at the pictures to see some activities during reading groups

Our new Reading has wonderful Shared Reading and Interactive Read Alouds

We have been focusing on non fiction books and rhyming words. We also use these books to help us learn about sentences. Ask your child about some of his/her favorite books this week.

Spelling: Week/Lesson 4 on Thursday
Grammar:  Sentences have a capital letter and end mark and words must be in the correct order
Math:  We will be working with money, identifying numbers, and putting numbers into sets
Social Studies: Remembering September 11
Art: Andy Warhol POP ART

You will notice I have marked assessed papers with a P, NP, or N.  This is to help you know where your child's behaviors compare to the grade level expectations.  The letters stand for:

P- Proficient:  Consistently demonstrates competence or understanding

NP- Nearing Proficient:  Some initial evidence of understanding

N- Not Proficient:  Does not demonstrate evidence of understanding

If I see too many NP or N I will contact you.  If you have concerns when looking at your child's papers as always, please feel free to contact me.

You will notice many of our papers are skills or activities that we practice together or centers we are practicing  independently.  I do not use our practice work for assessment.

On these homework pages parents please write what your child says for how they solved the problem.

If your child is not able to count to 100 please work on that with them.
I will be testing in 2 weeks.

We are working on good learning habits.  I am proud of the students and learning the routines of school,  working in centers, and respecting others learning environment.

I encourage you to work on good worship habits.  Let your child know and see that God and worship is a priority in your life.  I hope to see you in church and Bible study this weekend!

Called to Care,
Amy
