As we look ahead to Lutheran Schools Week I want to share with you why I teach at and why you should be happy your child attends a Lutheran School.  
This is why ZION is special...
Your child is literally and figurative surround by God's Word.
We go to chapel each week and sit as faith families.
We get to learn about Jesus and build relationships with students in other grades.
We start each day with an invocation, devotion, and prayer.
We end each day with a closing devotion song and prayer.

Your child is being nurtured spiritually everyday. 
My students learn about Jesus and His love in religion each day.
My students are learning to apply God's Word to our lives with Bible Journaling.

My students given opportunities to serve through our classroom prayer ministry...


and with our offering we support Angie Steinbacher and her mission work, we have help kids with cancer, and we have provided food.
My students look for other ways to serve each day.
We just went around and cleaned door frames!
My students are nurtured in sharing their faith and given opportunities to practice witnessing
Red-because love matters
Diamond- because God does amazing things
under heat and pressure

Lent worship centers (coming soon)
Child led family devotions (after Easter)
Sending college care packages
We are Family.  We are claim and redeem by Christ.  We are brothers and sisters in Him.  We learn to work together in His Kingdom.  We learn to love one another and forgive one another.  

JESUS is what makes us special.  Yes, we are strong in academics.  Our schools scores consistently above the 75% on standardized testing and when our students go to Lutheran High (one of the most academic high schools in the St. Louis county with the highest average ACT scores in the county) the teachers at LHS comment on how well prepared Zion students are for upper level classes.  
Yes, Zion has awesome music programs and sport programs as well. And Yes, Zion is a school family.

*Travel back to your favorite destination, enjoy sight seeing, or wear a favorite shirt you purchased on your trip.
Tuesday: Holiday Day
*Dress as your favorite holiday...no matter what time of year it is!
*Mission Activity
Wednesday: PJ Day
*wear pajamas/sweats
Chris Cakes will serve a full pancake breakfast to all students from preschool-8th grade in the church basement. Students will be served unlimited pancakes, sausage, and orange juice.

1st-8th Pancake & Chapel Schedule
1st - 4th grade Pancake Breakfast: 8:10 - 8:45 
CHAPEL for 1st-8th grade: 9:00 - 9:35 
    Thursday: Circle of Life
*You can be as old or young as you want to be..baby...grandparent Be any age you want
8th Grade vs Teacher Volleyball Game @ 1:30
Friday: Class Choice SPORTS DAY
*wear any sports related clothing
BMX Assembly for the whole school at 2:00 pm in Gym A Look Ahead:
Our Chapel this week will join other Lutheran Schools across the country to support Lutheran missions in Peru.

Visit the Art Fair in the back of Church this Saturday and Sunday!

February 23, 5:00 We sing in church.  Please mark your calendars! Have your child in the upper music room by 4:50 to warm up.

GRANDPARENTS DAY - Save the Date: We invited all Grandparents or special adult friend to attend school on March 8.  See last previous post for more information

We had a great day celebrating  the 100th Day of Learning!  Thank you to Mrs. Horn for being in charge and the countless hours of prep and work!  Thank you also to the parents who volunteered with their time and donations!  

What is even better is that we get to celebrate every day the love of Jesus our Savior!!!

GRANDPARENTS DAY - FRIDAY MARCH 8, 2019
Save the Date - Friday, March 8, 2019 for Grades 1-8
Grandparents’ or Special Friends’ Day is scheduled for Friday, March 8th from 8:00-11:00.  Please plan on having a grandparent or special guest attend.  Your child must have an adult present. 
8:00 - 8:30 AM Arrive anytime between 8:00 - 8:30 with your adult.
8:00 - 9:45 AM      Guests and students stay together and spend 
time at various activities.  A map will go home with students and extra maps will be available that day.  Family units decide where they want to start.
*ZION ASKS YOU STAY TOGETHER AS A FAMILY UNIT FOR PROPER SUPERVISION*
9:45 - 10:00 AM      Guests and students travel to church sanctuary
10:00 - 11:00 AM      Closing program and chapel 
11:00 AM      Dismissal (from the church sanctuary)

VALENTINES:  We will be making our valentine boxes here AT SCHOOL.  Each child may bring Valentines to hand out.  Please include a Valentine for each child in our class.  PLEASE NO CANDY!  This year we are asking that you DO NOT send candy to school with the Valentines.  Our party will be on February 14
