You are your child’s PFD!!
Pastor Rouland in Confirmation always says at the first class, you are your child’s PFD, Personal Faith Developer. As parents we are given the task of developing our child’s faith. Do not fear you are not alone in this task. The Holy Spirit will help you along with Zion Church and School. You may wonder what a PFD does;
Pastor Rouland gives three responsibilities:
set an example, be authentic, and be faithful.

We are learning to FOCUS, using our eyes, ears, and brain. When we FOCUS we look at the person talking, we listen to what the person is saying, and we use our brain to think about what the person is telling us to do. Sometimes we even repeat in our head what they said to remember. This is something you could practice at home!
We worked on our stations this week. If your stations for the week are completed by Friday, the students get fun Friday. If your stations are not done you need to complete the station before going to a fun station. If you are still not done the center will be sent home to finish over the weekend. I will start sending home not completed centers on Friday NEXT WEEK.
It is exciting to see the students learn the routine of first grade. I am very proud that they come in and do the morning work with few reminders. Way to be independent! Thank you parents for not coming in the school and giving your child that independence!
We have been having some trouble with the bathroom pass. It is a revolving door in my room of students using the free bathroom pass. Kids actually line up by the door while I am teaching waiting for the bathroom pass to return to the room. I was hoping the 'novelty' would wear off but it hasn't. So I am going to try a few things. I want you to know we take a bathroom break at 10:15, 11:10, 11:40 and 1:45. I encourage all students to use the bathroom. I will give each child one chip that they can use to go to the bathroom during a class time. I hope this stops the abuse of the bathroom pass. If this doesn't work I may have to take away the water bottles and have them just use the drinking fountain. Please talk to your child about using the bathroom during the break times.
Join us for the BOBCAT SHUFFLE! See the Friday Folder for details. |
Enjoy the three day weekend and be your child's PFD. Be an EXAMPLE, have your child see you reading the Bible and praying. Be AUTHENTIC, do what is true to you in sharing your faith. Be FAITHFUL, make weekly church a priority for your family.
May we join in the Psalmist and proclaim: "I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord!"
In Christ I GO,
