October 28, 2016

This week we learned about Martin Luther.  We learned that the Holy Spirit made him bold to tell the truth about God.  He told others what the Bible tells us about God.  Martin Luther wrote 95 true statement, thesis, about God.  He nailed them to the church door on October 31, 1517.  He wanted everyone to read and know the truth about God.  In First Grade we pray that God makes us bold to tell others the truth about God.  I had the class write down true statements about God.
  Here are a few:

God loves you.
God made the earth.
The Lord is with you wherever you go.
God is love.
God is amazing.
Jesus protects us.
God forgives your sins.
God is giving.
God made us.
God cares for you.
Jesus died on the cross for you.
God is our refuge and strength.
Jesus saves me.
God is powerful, more powerful than the devil.
God is strong.
God is our shield.
Jesus washes away our sins.
Jesus rose from the dead.
God choose you to be His child.

God is mighty.

This year we will once again be able to participate in "World Sport Stacking Day" on Thursday, Nov. 17. On that day people all over the world will be sport stacking and we will try to set a new world record for the most people sport stacking on one day in multiple locations. This will be a nice culmination of the sport stacking unit. Mrs. Steinbacher needs parents to help her on that day.  Please email her, msteinbacher@zionharvester.org, if you can help. She will let you know what times she needs help.  Our class time is 12:05-12:40.

We sent care packages to college students who are members of Zion.  I requested Zion members to send in address of college students to send the care packages.  We sent 20 care packages.

We have received several thank you from the college students, via Facebook, email, and Instagram...

 Dear First Grade.
Thank you for thinking of me and sending me a care package! I loved the post-it note encouragements, the artwork, and the letter! I appreciate your prayers and love! I had so much fun with you at the Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago! I hope all of your nature kits are full of cool seeds and plant parts! I look forward to seeing and working with you all again in December when I'm back home for Christmas!

Keep shining Jesus' light!
