Apple Day October 21, 2013

Oh, the Lord's been good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and the rain and the appleseed
The Lord's been good to me!
We peeled...

...and peeled...
... and peeled apples.
Turning the crank was hard work.
We cut the apples.
We added sugar...

...cinnamon...
...and the secret ingredient BROWN SUGAR!

We stirred it up.
After 3 hours we had applesauce. It sure smelled good!
We tasted different kinds of apples.
Some were sweet...
...and some were sour.
The kids in the class liked green apples best.
We put the story of Johnny Appleseed in order.

We made a counting apple book.
We had to put the correct number of apples on the trees.
It was tricky.
Mrs. Merritt helped!

We weighed apples.

We made an apple shape poem.

We read apple books.

We read "The Story of Johnny Appleseed"

We made a list to describe John Chapman.

Then we made a picture of Johhny Appleseed.

We looked inside our apples.

Finally we tasted our applesauce.

It was good!

We watched a short video about Johnny Appleseed and ate our applesauce treat.

This was a great day.
Thank you to the moms, dad, and grandma who came to help us.
Ask you child what was their favorite part.
Look for the apple activity papers in the green folders tomorrow!!!
